My first Pelaverga ever(no pun intended), fortunately it doesn't taste like one. But it grows on you, lol. About the wine it tastes like a Barolo, with juicy Maraschino cherries, currants and a smidge of spicy Angostura bitters. From hitimewine.net

Not as pretty as the 2014. Nice red fruits, herbs, low tannins. Surprised to see 14% on the label as this drinks quite light. Touch of bitterness in the finish but the wine really fleshes out with 45mn of air. This is a real enjoyable wine.

Whoa... My Pelaverga experience is limited to two producers for this variety. But if this is the reference point, I label it a winner.

Burlotto’s 2015 Pelaverga is striking. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of silky red berry fruit in an airy, mid-weight red that captures the more refined side of this quirky, indigenous variety native to Verduno. (AG)
