O M G! Smooth, not dry at all, like BUTTER. One of the best wines I've ever had!

Following winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 2% Syrah & 2% Petit Verdot. Deep purple with fresh berry fruit aromas and earthy spice tones. Blackberry currant flavors, almost jammy, with herb notes and soft fine tannins. Medium finish, easy drinking best now over next couple of years, ending with a spice character.

Ramey’s interpretation of #claret is quite interesting. After 9 years of bottle time it’s aged more than expected. Stewed plum, quite faint dark fruit on the nose. Prominent acidity on palate, primary fruit exited stage left, some sherry notes but still noticeable tannins. 68% #cabernetsauvignon, 18% #merlot, 6% #syrah, 4% #malbec, 4% #petitverdot

I enjoy this red blend for the price point ($40). Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec & Petit Verdot showcase this Claret. Not super fruit forward with some aging characteristics.

Subtle aroma and flavors of smoked black cherry, raspberry, dark cocoa, & wet wood. Smooth and soft. Medium tannin. Short finish. Medium-plus acidity.
