Never had a Cerasuolo before. My forays in Sicily have been limited to Etna Rosso. I was attracted by the buzzy Gulfi brand. But so far am left scratching my head as to why anyone would seek out this wine. It’s barely wine. Closer to grape juice. No aroma at all. Too light in color and flavor Very little fruit on the palate and extremely green. Obviously the wine is young, but it’s not clear to me how this unstructured, tannic free wine can mature into something more interesting. I bought a second bottle and will try it again in a few years.

We had it with fish in Sicily, really perfect for it. Balanced medium to full, but not too much fruit in general, much less for a Sicilian wine. Tastes a lot like a Lacrima
