Even more delicate than the 1999. Too many sediments but nothing takes away from the freshness of the wine and softness of the tannins

First Musar experience and most engaging wine I’ve had in a long while. High toned and delicate but still distinctly powerful in grace. Clean orchestration. Reminds me of great Burgundy and Bordeaux smashed, or rather softly molded, together. Absolutely killer with strip steak and sautéed rainbow chard.

Part of a Musar wine dinner. Served with a braised short rib alongside the 2009 Musar red as well. This ‘98 was very high toned and went beautifully with the smokiness of the short rib and the was just lifted by the pistou underneath. It was in a great place.

I love this wine. So damn funky they should put a picture of Bootsy Collins on the label

Even more powerful nose than 1999, gorgeous aromas of surprising bubble gum, dried fruit, dried flowers, hints of mint and estragon. Amazing on the palate — smooth, focused, concentrated, plenty of life left in this and it can go to sleep for another decade easily. Fruit, berries, flowers, smoke and cured meats. In love and couldn't get enough of it!

This wine is just unmistakeable. I served it blind and, after guessing that it was Cabernet dominant and about 20 years old, I told my dad that he was right and that, despite his immediate uncertainty, I would have been able to identify this myself blind. After which he said, ah yes, so it's not from France, it's from the Lebanon! The cinsault is so evident in this - completely muddling, but at the same time enriching the wine, adding complexity, depth, and delicate spice. The Carignan adds a wonderfully peppery fragrance and binds it all together beautifully!
