Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Full-bodied with medium acidity. Very dry on the palate with nice complexity and a nice mouthfeel. Showing black fruits, cedar, licorice, chocolates, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth and peppercorn. This is a delicious Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero in Spain. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward and nicely balanced. Starting to drink beautifully now, and needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient. Wine Enthusiasts 96 points. Wine Advocate 95 points. This 5 year old Tempranillo is already complex, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. 100% Tempranillo grapes, from 40 year old vines, were aged for 14 months in oak barrels and concrete vats. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $120.

It is always great to revisit a classic. This is one of the best representations of Rivera del Duero as a whole, composed of fruit from select parcels and vineyards from the DO; it always exudes opulence, the body is full, the tannins are grippy and the finish lingers.
