Sipping Fine Wine
Crafted by Joseph J. Wagner, 4th generation winemaker, with winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Deep Ruby with red berry fruit aromas, tea and sweet spice notes. On the palate flavors of jammy blackberry and cherry with pronounced sweet vanilla oak, cacao and pepper spice notes. Soft tannins and bright acidity, well balanced, with mineral tones on a long finish ending with toasty spice! Nice!

If you are opening bottle of Pinot Noir, you likely wish to have something that tastes like a Pinot Noir. This is not my style of Pinot Noir, very heavy and dense, more like GSM- Cotes du Rhone or other full-bodied wine. I reccomend giving it time to open up as well. Dark purple, dark fruits, leather, chewy a little tight perhaps. Slick, slippery on tongue but still heavy over all. It's not as candied and syrupy as cough medicine but not entirely distant from it either. Not a bad wine, but maybe a bad Pinot Noir.

This IS Santa Barbara County Pinot! First taste was a big burst of fruit. Not too sweet, not simple and unsophisticated, not a jammy Zin bomb, mind you. Instead, more like a zing of bright, pure, winey fruit. Remarkable and memorable. We had the 2022 vintage in a magnum bottle so perhaps that helped preserve its freshness and purity. We enjoyed this Big Mama at the Palm Restaurant in downtown LA, celebrating my daughter Rachel’s graduation from UCLA Law School. Congratulations, Rachel!

Medium bodied Pinot noir… pairs well with focaccia and veal saltimbocca
