Sipping Fine Wine
Founded in 1998, Achaval-Ferrer is a team of friends who make great wines. Starting off, 2017 was a good harvest, from a great producer. Aromas of fresh berry fruit, spice and floral notes. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with sweet herb notes. Soft fine tannins, lingering well balanced with acidity with fresh mineral ending. Great value!

Great wine for the price. A bit of barnyard funk with the right amount of blackberry and dark cherry notes to round it out.

Deepest earth flavor I’ve ever tasted with zero fruit. Slightly alcoholic and crisp but not too acidic. My wife loves it and it left us a killer “wine face.”

Atypical Argentine Malbec for sure: this reminded me of some old, rustic Cahors - stinky barnyard, manure, burnt rubber & a green bell pepper herbaceousness dominated the nose for the first 45 mins. Almost gave up on this, but eventually some black fruit emerged, some prune, licorice/anise and soil. Mid to full bodied but carries itself well. Smooth thru finish. Not sure if this is going thru a weird phase but this was truly unusual.
