Sometimes wine can be a serious thing. But sometimes wine can cut loose, let its hair down, and just have some fun – like here! Scarpetta was founded by a couple of French Laundry alums who wanted some casual, fun, and good value wine to serve with their rustic Italian food. They looked to Friuli, in northeastern Italy, where locals loved to drink thirst-quenching, fun, whites and reds with the local “guilty-pleasure” snack – a fried mess of potatoes, onions, cheese and salami called “Frico.”
