Domaine Jorel Champ du Monde 2012

$21

A blend of 66% Syrah, from schist slopes & 33% Mourvédre grown on limestone. The wine is aged 18 months in vats. Manuel Jorel works this small biodynamic estate which encompasses a variety of small parcels of old vines in the Pyrenees foothills near Maury. Geologically this area is at the site where tectonic plates collided millenia ago. Subsoils are predominately schist, the climate is sunny and very windy, and wine production is mostly red from grenache, mourvedre, carignan and syrah. Long the home of fortified and slightly sweet red wines, the region now is turning to full & rich dry tab
