Such a steal. But Columbia Valley reds usually are. This Indian Wells Merlot is delicious. Blackberry and vanilla. Smooth and still very nice a day later.

Will I think this is the first varietal merlot in my feed and I certainly know why. Even with a very good price from my local Costco (around $11 pre tax) this is just forgettable to me.

Some may call it balanced, but I find it more lacking. Its not subtle. Simply unexpressive and far too light. Some nice pepper, oak...but ultimately lacking distinction.

It's alright, has a somewhat strong after taste. Not really my cup of tea...or should I say wine.

Earthy and wet tobacco on the nose. Blueberry and maple syrup upfront. Finishes with some orange rind.

Color: Dark, ruby red. Nose: graphite, cedar, white pepper, red berries and moderate roasted marshmallow from the new oak barrels. High alcohol, high tannins, jammy, red fruit, more cedar and then vanilla on the finish. Not too bad, overall. Might be nice to set a few back for a few years to see how it softens up and the how the fruit mellows. 85% Merlot, 15% Syrah, 51% new oak (French and American). Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope AVA, Indian Wells vineyard.
